After deciding to pivot away from being a site for gamers to sell off old games, Delhi-based Bootstrapp has, as promised, launched today with its new and broader focus. That is to buy up old gadgets and sell them on. The Bootstrapp site also sells brand-new gadgets to those who’d prefer not to buy pre-owned stuff, but the main focus seems to be on second-hand. It’s an interesting twist in India’s thriving e-commerce market.
No, it’s not an eBay-like platform for selling off the gadgets that you’ve got bored of and would like to upgrade. Rather, Bootstrapp itself buys your old tech toys, and even drops by to collect them from you and can refurbish items when needed.
ສໍາລັບຕົວຢ່າງ, if you’ve got a Samsung Galaxy S3 that you’d rather sell off, Bootstrapp is buying those for as much as Rs 27,500 ($459) if it’s in mint condition. Then, with that money in hand, you could buy something pre-owned or brand-new from the site – or from anywhere else on the web or any normal store. The startup team reckons that 30 percent of people who still have old phones at home have never tried to sell them off – so this could be an easy solution.
For those who are selling items, pickup services for smartphones and tablets are limited only to Delhi NCR; but video games pickups (ແມ່ນ, the renamed and revamped site still caters to gamers) are available in over 15 cities across India.
As TechCircle explains, the original GamesINC was set up in May 2012 by Saptarshi Nath and Alexander Souter.
